Wow...So Exciting!!!
San Diego, ISTE 2012 conference... I am presenting a BYOD session on using Edmodo with Assessment.
Melinda at Edmodo

Participants will be able to…
• Mesh web 2.0 tools with assessment in order to better understand their students’ progress and ultimately improve student learning
• Use Edmodo
o to present learning and assessment opportunities that are available anytime, anywhere
o to provide valuable feedback to students
o to promote increased collaboration among students and other teachers
“The primary purpose of assessment is to improve student learning”. Assessment for learning continues to be a large focus in our classes. Does this mean that we need to mark and mark and mark?
Building a group in Edmodo allows for so many more instructional and assessment options for your classes:
• formative assessment data through use of polls and quizzes
• posting of assignments and grades
• sharing of links to valuable resources or assessment tools ie. Thatquiz, wikispaces, explore learning’s gizmos, NLVM, interactive websites,
• embedding engaging web 2.0 activities ie. Prezis, glogs, google docs, mangahigh, quizlet, wallwisher
• conversations

Edmodo is the virtual backbone for instruction and assessment in my classroom.
Through Edmodo, I am able to not only provide learning opps for my students, but they can share their learning as well. Moving from just an instructional tool, I have now used Edmodo to gather valuable assessment and achievement data from my students. It is truly a tool that aids in the improvement of student learning.
